In the beginning this was not my vision, it was my wifes. I was busy doing a lot of things and helping out
here and there. She began to share with me her vision and I wasn't really against it, but it just wasn't my thing. Or so I
thought. Anyway, I went along with it just to humor and encourage her.
We started out with 6 kids, Sol and me in an empty lot, with nothing but the Sun and some grass
with stickers. Later on we moved to the soup kitchen and ministered under the lean to on the side. Next we moved
to this empty lot. Started out with no building, then we had a vision for 4 buildings. We went from 6 kids to 9 and then eventually
to around 90. Things were going pretty good The ministry just seemed to be growing and God was working and blessing.
Then the Dept. of Homeland Security decided that they needed to check Sol out a little more so they took
her papers for 7 months. There I was, on my own with my 43 words of spanish. I had no idea how to build, I didn't know how
many blocks were needed, how much sand or gravel you needed. Also I didn't have a lot of money. Just my small pension and
Social Security and that was it. Through it all, I never asked anyone for anything. We just trusted God, and He did it all.
Since I don't speak spanish, I and didn't know how to communicate I started by just going down to the lumber
yard and drawing pictures of what I wanted. They understood. People just started coming by and donating. Next thing we knew
it was all paid for. We never even imagined having curtains. Someone came along and donated these from a remodeling project
that was going on out on South Padre Island. They were going to just be thrown away! And now they beautify our classroom.
God did it all, and he did it through so many people. There were those who prayed, those who gave financially,
or donated materials. There were some who came by and donated their time and skills and knowledge. And we thank you all.
